#who we are
We are STRT, a reimagined angel investing team. We all come from the startup world – we’ve got experience and now we’re helping others. We are operating in a new business model that unites our interests, the interests of our investors and the interests of startups. From the bottom up, we have rethought investing in early-stage startups and the support necessary for global success, and that’s what the seven founders have come together to do.
Almost everyone on the founding team has built a startup, has exited, and has lived abroad for some years. In total, we have incubated more than 140 startups in various locations and using different methods. We are a super team who works with super teams.
#investing
We are one of the most active angel investing teams in Hungary. We invest at an early stage in market-validated teams, which have at least a prototype. While we don’t give large sums of money, we provide it in an approachable way, with minimal hassle and founder-friendly conditions.
Our aim is to build a broad and diverse startup portfolio, surmounting more than just a branch full of lottery tickets. We believe that a portfolio provides mutual value and that we are stronger together. That’s why we think in terms of communities and industry exchanges.
We will not make 1-2 investments a year, but dozens of investments a year, and our aim is to work with the top ten percent of the market, helping create value for them.

We are not an institutional investor, we do not play with other people’s money. We do have investors, but STRT Holding invests its own capital. We’re not a fund manager managing a closed-end fund, so we don’t have fund closure pressure and we don’t have time pressure. Therefore, our companies don’t experience exit pressure.
The major domestic success stories lasted a long time. Most of them took more than a decade to grow up, conquer their markets and scale internationally. Every startup develops at a different pace and the key moment to sell comes at different times. Or going public. Or it makes a profit and keeps growing. They are all good for us, we don’t force our companies onto a single pathway.

We believe that the main driver of a company’s growth is the development and learning of its founders and leaders. So, we add more value to our money than most other investors. Lectures, workshops, mentoring, coaching – we’ll do our best to make sure that what little time you have to learn is useful and valuable.
We also see that domestic firms need more time because there is very little modern business knowledge circulating in the ecosystem. There is no literature on entrepreneurship, company building and start-ups in Hungarian and locally relevant literature. Most of the startup literature is American imports. On the one hand, this is great, because they are years ahead of us. But an American startup begins in a very different market from a Hungarian one. The labour market, financing, legal environment, taxation, and market size are all different. For this reason, not everything you read in an American book will be helpful or relevant. This is why domestic knowledge sharing is needed. That’s why we invest more than anyone else in this.

We know that not just anyone can help a company director. Only someone who has been there, who has seen a lot, and who has first-hand experience. A good mentor won’t make decisions for you, but can prepare you for what’s around the corner. They don’t control you, but help you make better decisions. And sometimes one good question or one new perspective can have a huge impact on your journey.

We believe in big goals and that good things must be scaled. This is what we expect from our portfolio companies and from ourselves. Our main ambition is to grow into a regional incubator, investing in thousands of companies and building the best professional community for startups and founders using the knowledge of thousands of teams.
